ISAPI is Microsoft's server-side programming interface, and is used to produce fast, feature-rich applications that are loaded once and stay in memory as long as the web server is running. ASP is actually implemented as an ISAPI extension. In terms of speed, you just can't build anything faster than an ISAPI application. The applications we produce are regular WIN32 libraries that produce strings of HTML, ASP, PHP or whatever is required to do the job. The main benefit of ISAPI other than speed is that anything that can be done using standard programming techniques can be done in ISAPI. Our applications can use standard web pages as input and return custom code, or we can embed the HTML into the app to prevent modification by third parties.
